Building the habit of celebrating successes is a great life skill to develop as explained by the HBR. Whatever exciting plans are on the horizon, getting in the habit of taking a moment to celebrate your wins will help motivate yourself in the long term. Even if your results weren’t what you hoped for, taking a moment to reflect on your efforts with your friends will have a positive effect on your future mind-set. There are lots of places that typically offer freebies to GCSE students on results day, from Nandos, to Las Iguanas and Papa Johns. So on the 22nd August, why not plan to pick up a free Nandos with your mates and talk about how far you’ve come? And if you plan to study A Levels next, we have tons of great revision content here

Save My Exams has done the hard work of trawling through all the best deals and discounts that were offered to GCSE students last year, to create the ultimate list for the class of 2024. Pick out your favourite options and we’ll give you all the tips and tricks to put you at the front of the queue for these amazing results day deals. Read right to the end for an incredible offer, as you don’t have to spend a penny on our favourite deal!

Food and restaurant deals on GCSE results day

Nandos

Nandos usually gives students a free starter OR a ¼ chicken on GCSE results day. All you need to do is show up with your valid results and spend £7. Now that’s a result! Check here for more details.

Chiquitos

Mexican restaurant Chiquitos also offers no-catch treats for students on results day. They say students can show their exam results to snag a tortilla garlic bread and a Coke Zero - there’s no obligation to spend anything else. Chiquito’s Marketing Director, Andreia Harwood, announced: “We recognise that the cost of living crisis is hard on us all but we wanted to make sure our hard-working students can celebrate their exam results day on us.”

Bella Italia

If Italian food is more your celebratory style, Bella Italia offers GCSE students a 30% discount off their food bill on GCSE results day. In fact, they offer this discount for students every Sunday-Thursday! Fill out the form here to get your code and every day can be a celebration! You can bring up to four people and you’ll need to order at least one adult main.

TGI Fridays

Thank God it’s results day! TGI Fridays offered the class of ‘23 23% off their food bill last year. Will they top it with 24% off the bill on the 22nd August 2024? Keep an eye on their offer here. You’ll need to download their Stripes Reward app and take your results along with you to claim the offer.

Papa Johns

If celebrating at home is more your style, Papa Johns offers some great deals on results day. Last year, they offered hardworking students 50% off pizza if you spent £30 or more with a special results day code. Check out their offers here

The Ivy Collection

Feeling really confident about your results? Maybe drop a hint to your parents about the results-day themed menu at the Ivy and celebrate in style. GCSE students were offered two courses for £50 and three courses for £60 last year. The Ivy chain is known for its modern European menu and chic decor, providing the perfect backdrop to celebrate your achievements and plan your future! Follow the Ivy on their Instagram to keep an eye on GCSE results day deals.

Bill’s

Bill’s restaurant chain has a nice simple offer for sweet-toothed students. All you have to do is turn up, order a main meal, flash your results and student ID and you can have a delicious dessert for free! With treats like mini cinnamon doughnuts, triple chocolate brownie or passionfruit cheesecake on the menu you’d better run, not walk, to take advantage of this results-day only offer.

Wildwood

More free Italian food? Why not. Wildwood offered GCSE students either a free garlic rosemary bread, a classic margherita pizza or a spaghetti pomodoro with a minimum spend of £7. Not bad! All you have to do is show your exam results and proof of age.

Frankie & Benny’s

Maybe the best deal of the lot—last year, Frankie & Benny’s gave students a free Margherita pizza (you can choose to pay for extra toppings) and a free regular coke (Diet Coke, Regular Coke or Coke Zero) just for walking in and showing their exam results, with no requirement to buy anything else! Frankie and Benny’s is a fun, family friendly restaurant that serves delicious Italian food and if you’re looking for a place to celebrate and plan your future you can’t beat eating and drinking for free.

How to claim your freebies on results day

Read on to discover the tips and tricks that will score you a deal at your favourite restaurant on results day.

  • Follow your preferred restaurants on their social media. Often, restaurants leave it quite late to announce their results day deals so getting organised and deciding which deals you want to go for in advance can really pay off. Just hit that follow button and check in nearer the time.

  • Remember to bring your results, student ID or proof of age with you! Most of the offers ask you to flash those results and some of them request another form of ID too.

  • Find out if you need to download an app or a code in advance so you don’t ruin that celebratory mood trying to do it on your phone at the last minute. Some of the deals, like the ones offered by TGI Fridays, require a bit of extra effort.

  • Remember to check out the terms and conditions on the restaurant’s website. Lots of them ask for a small minimum spend to access the deal but last year it was possible to get a free pizza and coke at Frankie & Benny’s with no spend at all. Cheers!

  • Finally, remember that your student status often entitles you to big discounts every day—just check your favourite restaurants and brands’ websites to find out more.
