What is logistics?
In GCSE Business, logistics is the management of acquiring, storing, and transporting products to their final destination. It includes warehousing and fulfilment, including packing and labelling, as well as arranging delivery, tracking orders, and managing returns.
Some businesses arrange their own logistics, operating warehouses and transport facilities as well as factories or retail outlets. Increasingly, though, businesses use specialist logistics companies to perform these important operations on their behalf. These companies typically occupy huge sites, which are often located close to major road networks, airports, or sea ports, to speed up the process of moving products to their end consumers.
