What is globalisation?

Globalisation in A Level Sociology refers to the process by which the world becomes increasingly interconnected through the exchange of goods, services, information, culture, and ideas across national borders. Globalisation is driven by advancements in technology, communication, and transportation, leading to greater economic, political, and cultural integration on a global scale.

Sociologists study globalisation to understand its impact on societies, such as the spread of consumer culture, changes in employment patterns, migration, and the influence of global media. While globalisation can promote cultural diversity and economic growth, it can also lead to cultural homogenisation, economic inequality, and the erosion of local identities.
