A Level Exam Resit Dates 2026/27: Key Dates & Deadlines

If you didn’t get the A Level grades you were hoping for, A Level resits offer a valuable opportunity to improve your results and open up new doors. 

You may feel disheartened about resitting your A Level exams, but try to view it as a chance to strengthen your knowledge and prove to yourself just how capable you are.

When are A Level exam resits?

Unlike GCSE resits, A Level resits are typically only available during the main summer exam series, which runs from May to June each year. You can retake your A Levels as a private candidate or through your school.

There is no dedicated November resit window for A Levels. Therefore, if you're planning to retake your A Levels, you'll need to register for the summer 2027 exams.

Most exam board timetables are provisional, and CIE haven’t released their 2027 A Level exam timetable yet, so make sure to check back here or go to the official exam board websites closer to your exams to confirm dates and times.

What is the deadline for A Level resits?

The deadline for entries for summer exams is around February each year. Exam boards haven’t yet released their exact deadlines, so check with your sixth form or college for further information. 

When is A Level resit results day 2027?

If you’re sitting your A Level resits this summer, you’ll get your A Level resit results on A Level results day with all other A Level students. 

A Level results day falls on Thursday 13th August 2026. 

If you’re sitting your A Level resits in summer 2027, your A Level resit results day is likely to fall on Thursday 12th August 2027, but this is yet to be confirmed.
