Schools in some regions can choose to have their IGCSEs graded using either the A*-G or the 9-1 grading scale. The exam code of the paper you sit depends on which grading scale you have been entered for. If you sit Chemistry (0620), you will be awarded a grade from A* to G, while if you sit Chemistry (0971), you will be awarded a grade from 9 to 1. Regardless of the grading scale used and the exam code of the paper, all students study the same syllabus, and the exam you take will be identical.
