  • Converted into starch molecules for energy storage inside cells
  • Converted into cellulose to build cell walls
  • Glucose can be used in respiration to release energy
  • Converted to sucrose for transport in the phloem
  • During production of nectar to attract insects for pollination
• Plants can also convert carbohydrates into lipids and amino acids
