In GCSE Sociology, the term 'household' refers to a group of people who live together in a single dwelling, sharing living space and resources such as food and bills. A household can consist of individuals who are related, such as families, or people who are unrelated, such as friends or flatmates. It's important to note that while all families form households, not all households are families.
Households can vary in size and structure and may include extended family members, single individuals, or cohabiting couples. Understanding the concept of a household is vital for examining how social structures and relationships operate within domestic settings.
