Corresponding sides - GCSE Maths Definition

In GCSE Maths, 'corresponding sides' refer to the sides of two or more shapes that are in the same position in relation to each shape's angles or overall structure. When shapes are similar, this means they have the same shape but can be different sizes, their corresponding sides are in proportion to each other. For example, if two triangles are similar, the longest side of the first triangle corresponds to the longest side of the second triangle. Understanding corresponding sides helps in solving problems related to geometry, such as finding missing lengths or proving that two shapes are similar.
