In the context of GCSE Maths, acceleration is a measure of how quickly an object's velocity changes over time.
Acceleration occurs when an object speeds up, or slows down, and is typically measured in metres per second squared (m/s²), but could be measured in other units.
The formula for calculating acceleration is the change in velocity divided by the time taken for that change to occur.
