The Periodic Table is a chart that shows all known chemical elements arranged in order of increasing atomic number (the number of protons in an atom’s nucleus). It is organised into rows called periods and columns called groups. Elements in the same group often have similar properties and react in similar ways. The table also helps to identify whether elements are metals or non-metals. The Periodic Table is an important tool in chemistry because it helps scientists understand patterns in element behaviour and predict how different elements will react.
