Qualitative Data
Qualitative data is non-numerical; it cannot be counted or expressed as a number and it involves descriptions
Examples of qualitative data include:
A participant's description of their performance
An observer's opinion on the quality of a team's play
Qualitative data is often subjective, meaning that it is dependent on the feelings and opinions of individuals
This differs from quantitative data which deals with objective facts
Methods for Collecting Qualitative Data
Qualitative data can be collected by carrying out:
Interviews
Speaking to participants after a test or a sporting event allows them to share their opinion of their performance
Observations
An observer watching an activity can record thoughts on the quality of a performance
