Worked Example of a "Describe" Question

Worked Example

Describe two problems faced by Germany before 1914.

[4 marks]

Answer:

One problem Germany faced before 1914 was issues with workers’ pay and rights (1). The trade unions organised strikes to pressure the Kaiser and the government to improve their pay and conditions (1).

Another problem Germany faced before 1914 was the increase in the popularity of Socialism (1). A new political party called the Social Democratic Party (SPD) received workers’ votes because they wanted social reforms and to improve workers’ rights. They held many seats in the Reichstag and many of them held extreme views wanting revolution (1).
