The 2025 Business Management Paper 1 Pre-Released Statement

  • This year's pre-released statement, issued in February 2025, introduces you to Myt PLC, a multinational non-alcoholic drinks manufacturer

  • You are advised to spend a maximum of five hours researching the issues presented and learning terminology

The Case Study

  • The pre-release statement provides the first five paragraphs of the case study

    • The full case study will be provided on the day of the examination

  • Some key points include:

    • Growth Strategy (Line 4-6)

      • The company has expanded through both internal and external growth, initially producing only a root beer but now offering over 30 different drinks in bottles and cans

    • Marketing Approach (Line 7)

      • Myt uses social media influencers to promote its products, leveraging digital platforms for brand awareness and customer engagement

    • Health Concerns (Line 9-12)

      • Some of Myt’s drinks are high in caffeine and sugar, contributing to obesity and diabetes concerns, while diet alternatives containing sugar substitutes have also faced health-related criticism

    • Diversification Efforts (Line 14-17)

      • In 2023, Myt acquired Lotssa Coffee, a chain with over 4,000 coffee shops in 35 countries, and Honest Water, a bottled water manufacturer, as part of its expansion strategy

    • Sustainability and Innovation Plans (Line 19-22)

      • Myt has announced plans to modernise its factories to be more environmentally friendly, reduce caffeine and sugar levels in its products, and improve corporate social responsibility (CSR)

    • Exploring New Markets (Line 21)

      • The company is considering entering the healthy snacks market and incorporating computer-generated avatars in advertisements as part of its evolving business strategy
