What is the structure of Paper 2?

Overview

• Paper 2 consists of two sections with questions that may relate to any part of the higher level syllabus

• Questions are based on unseen case studies that have a quantitative focus

Section A

• This section contains three sets of structured questions based on unseen case study material

  • There is a total of 30 marks available for this section

  • You must answer all questions

• Questions typically include a combination of:

  • Define questions worth 2 marks

  • State questions worth 2 marks

  • Calculate questions, typically worth 2 marks

  • Explain questions worth 2 or 4 marks

Section B

• This section contains two sets of structured questions based on unseen case study material

  • You need to answer one of these

  • There is a total of 20 marks available for this section

• Questions typically include a combination of:

  • Define questions worth 2 marks

  • Describe questions worth 2 marks

  • Comment on questions worth 2 marks

  • Explain questions worth 2 or 4 marks

  • A discuss question worth 10 marks
