About

  • Richard has been with Save My Exams since 2021 and is now a Senior Content Creator for Chemistry. Prior to this, Richard was a teacher of Chemistry and other academic and vocational courses for 15 years, teaching thousands of students across key stage 3, GCSE, BTEC and A Level.

  • Richard has also mentored PGCSE and Teach First student teachers who all went on to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS).

  • In addition to his teaching experience, Richard has designed and delivered staff development sessions on creating and assessing assignment briefs for various vocational courses. Always keen to engage students with Science, he set up and ran an extracurricular Science club which was popular with many students keen to try different experiments and consider the real-life applications of Science.

  • In 2012, Richard started examining for OCR (A) A Level Chemistry before moving to become a Graudate level examiner for Edexcel International GCSE Chemistry. This progressed to becoming an Expert level examiner for Edexcel International GCSE Chemistry, Edexcel GCSE Chemistry and Edexcel International A Level Chemistry.

  • Richard was then invited to write and review content for Pearson as part of their Harrow Schools Online International A Level Chemistry course and, subsequently, for Pearson Online Academy.

  • After struggling with his own exams and revision in school, Richard discovered how to revise at University courtesy of that one teacher who helps unlock your understanding. Since then his passion has been supporting students to effectively revise and make the best progress they can. In A Level Chemistry, Richard has always taught Physical and Inorganic Chemistry despite being an Organic specialist and has used his knowledge and experience to make concepts like Chemistry calculations, organic mechanisms and electrochemistry more accessible and understandable.

  • Away from work and education, Richard is an SRU Level 1 Rugby coach and referee and still plays, in between having a busy family life.

Top revision quote for students

“I would always say to my GCSE and A Level students that they need to find out what they don’t know, which is hard because (by definition) you don’t know what you don’t know. The trick is discovering techniques to find this out… So, what are you planning to do? Hopefully something better than just doing a past paper or two. ”
