About
Kristin is a freelance writer and editor with 15 years of experience in educational publishing.
She specializes in grades 2-12 English Language Arts and Social Studies but has worked in a host of other categories, including mathematics, science, and adult continuing education.
In the evenings and during the summer, Kristin teaches creative writing and hosts book clubs for tweens and teens around her dining room table.
Published work
Kristin is the author of 21 non-fiction and historical fiction school library books, including LGBTQ Discrimination in America (ABDO Publishing, 2019), The Revolutionary War: Why They Fought (Compass Point Books, 2015), and Flu Pandemic of 1918 (Core Library). She has also researched and written more than 40 in-depth study guides about classic and popular works of literature and historical documents for a well-known student-facing website.
When she’s not writing materials for websites and library shelves, Kristin writes and edits textbooks, teacher’s editions, and thousands upon thousands of test questions. If it shows up in a classroom, her words or red pen have probably touched it!
Education
Kristin holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism with an emphasis in strategic communications from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
