About

  • Katie has created compelling physics content for Save My Exams since April 2020. Before that, she spent 5 years as a Science Teacher.

  • Throughout her career, Katie taught physics (as well as chemistry and biology) at secondary schools and sixth forms across the UK, Spain and, more recently, online. She also gained experience as a maths teacher, a specialist SEN teacher, and even a lab technician. For her exceptional subject knowledge and dedication to teaching, she was even awarded a prestigious Institute of Physics Scholarship in 2015.

  • Before her time with Save My Exams, Katie worked as an author and proofreader for two educational publishers, where she learned that high-quality content does not just require strong subject knowledge, but also savvy writing skills and a deep understanding of the specific requirements of each exam board. She harnesses this knowledge and experience in her role at Save My Exams to ensure that our resources provide students with everything they need to reach their goals.

  • In her spare time, Katie enjoys going to drag shows, cabarets and festivals as much as she enjoys listening to an audiobook whilst completing a puzzle book or pursuing one of her creative outlets such as origami, costume design or sewing.

Education

  • Katie graduated from the University of Sheffield with a First Class joint honours BSc in Physics with Astrophysics. She completed a PGCE in Secondary Science with a Physics specialism at the University of Bristol.

Expertise

  • Katie has taught physics at all key stages, as well as chemistry, biology and maths up to key stage 4.

  • Her specialist topic (and perhaps greatest passion) is astronomy and cosmology, which has fascinated her from a young age

  • Katie also enjoys explaining abstract concepts, such as quantum and nuclear physics, in the simplest terms possible

Published work

  • Katie has written and edited online course materials for distance learners preparing to take the AQA A Level Physics exam.

  • Katie has worked as an author with another educational publisher in the UK, publishing physics resources such as revision notes, practice topic question packs and summary posters for a range of levels and exam boards.
