Jamie has been a Maths Content Creator at Save My Exams since June 2022.
In his role at Save My Exams, Jamie creates Revision Notes, Topic Questions, and Tutorial Videos. He also helps to proof and edit the work of other content creators in the team.
Before working at Save My Exams, Jamie worked as a Teacher of Mathematics in the south west of England for 8 years.
Most of Jamie’s teaching has been in a sixth form (ages 16-19), where he taught Edexcel A level Maths and Further Maths extensively. In addition to this Jamie also taught GCSE Maths to post-16 students, and AS level Physics.
Whilst working in a sixth form, Jamie set up a fully-resourced online A level Maths course with video lessons. This was used to help students during the period of online learning due to COVID-19, and was later used as a distance-learning course for adults.
Jamie has also taught in secondary schools; teaching KS3, GCSE, and A level Maths to students aged 13-18.
Whilst in his final year at university, Jamie worked as a classroom assistant in a local secondary school, and helped facilitate a Sutton Trust summer school as part of a widening participation programme. Both of these experiences helped inspire Jamie to pursue a career in education.
Jamie graduated with a degree in Electronic & Communications Engineering from the University of Bristol. He specialised in units relating to mobile communications networks, antennas, and mathematical modelling. His final year project investigated antennas for RFID systems.
After completing his Engineering degree, Jamie studied for a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics, also at the University of Bristol.
Prior to university, Jamie studied A level Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. He also studied AS level Geography.
Jamie has taught A level Maths extensively, teaching the course to several classes each year during his time working at a sixth form. Jamie now uses his expertise of A level Maths to create resources which help empower students all over the world to succeed.
Within A level maths, Jamie has a particular interest in Mechanics topics, and loves creating resources that tie together clear diagrams and structured workings.
Within A level Further Maths, his specialism is Further Mechanics. Jamie enjoys reflecting on the most effective methods for modelling and explaining key concepts within this module.
Jamie’s favourite topic to teach students is Projectiles. He loves how just a few key concepts can help unlock the ability to solve fairly complex, and practical, problems.
As well as A level Maths, Jamie has taught GCSE Maths to post-16 students for most of his teaching career. He enjoys considering how to structure and build up students’ knowledge carefully and purposefully.
