James has worked for Save My Exams since January 2024 as the subject lead for Computer Science.
Prior to joining Save My Exams, James taught Computer Science and ICT at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level for over 14 years in a secondary school in Northumberland.
James held departmental leadership roles including Head of Computer Science, as well as both key stage 3 and key stage 4 coordinator of Computer Science, helping his department achieve GCSE results in the top 4% of the country
James is particularly passionate about the positive impact technology can have on education and has led initiatives to increase the use of digital learning tools in schools, helping with the introduction of 1:1 Chromebooks and embedding Google Workspace tools into everyday life for students during the 2020 pandemic. He believes that a strong understanding of Computer Science is increasingly essential in our digital world, and is committed to making the subject accessible and engaging for all students
James also played an active role to shape the virtual learning environment ‘FROG’ to be embedded into school, creating assessment platforms for students
Outside of work, James enjoys spending his time with his wife and two young children, travelling and cooking foods from around the world
James has worked alongside numerous educators to support them in their delivery of Computer Science. In doing so, James has provided his outstanding knowledge of teaching and learning, blended with Computer Science to deliver content on behalf of the Department for Education’s National Centre for Computing Education (NCCE)
James graduated from the University of Sunderland with a BA (with QTS) in ICT and Computing Education
