Caroline has been with Save My Exams since 2022 and is now responsible for all things Physics in her role as Subject Lead. Prior to this, Caroline was a teacher of Chemistry and Physics for 12 years, teaching thousands of students across key stage 3, GCSE and A Level.
Caroline’s passion & enthusiasm for science education stems from her own experience working in industry. Always keen to show students how what they learn can be applied outside of the classroom, Caroline set up and ran an extracurricular Forensic Science club which was popular with many students keen to understand real-life crime scenes!
In addition to a wealth of teaching experience, Caroline contributed to the development of ‘Frog’, a virtual learning environment, to support and stretch students outside of the classroom. This was particularly important during the Covid-19 pandemic when lots of learning became remote.
Caroline has also mentored student teachers who all went on to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS) and acted as a supervisor for students preparing for their extended project qualification, including a project to research the processes and techniques used within classic car restoration and another which investigated the impact of climate change.
Before her teaching career, Caroline spent several years working within the automotive industry, working for prestigious brands such as BMW and Land Rover. She performed detailed investigations into a variety of materials and chemicals through the application of a wide range of analytical techniques, such as infra-red spectroscopy, gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy.
In her spare time, Caroline is a keen runner and has completed many marathons, including London and Barcelona, and ultra-marathons, most notably a 50-mile traverse from the north to the south of the Lake District.
Caroline graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BSc in Chemistry and Molecular Physics. She completed her PGCE in Secondary Education at the University of Warwick.
Caroline has taught Chemistry, Physics and Biology at KS3, specialising in GCSE Chemistry and Physics, and A Level Chemistry.
Her particular area of expertise is the overlap between Chemistry and Physics - she specialised in Physical Chemistry at A Level.
Caroline particularly enjoys teaching students about nuclear fission and fusion as this was the topic that captured her imagination and sparked her lifelong love of Chemistry and Physics when she was at school.
