About

Cara is a Biology Content Creator at Save My Exams and began this role in 2022. Throughout this time Cara has contributed to a wide range of resources onsite such as revision notes, topic questions and video creation. Cara has particularly enjoyed finding creativity in producing A Level and GCSE Biology. Cara is passionate about all things Biology and is committed to producing original content that aims to support students’ understanding and enjoyment in Biology.
Before joining the Save My Exams Biology team Cara worked as a science teacher for 15 years. Cara has taught all three sciences across Key Stage 3, GCSE, BTEC and specialises in Biology and Psychology at A Level. As a teacher and tutor, Cara has supported thousands of students to achieve their full potential and fostered in them a love of learning which goes beyond the classroom.
Cara has achieved many roles within the UK school system including Head of Science, Head of Biology and Lead Teacher. Cara has also qualified as an Advanced Skills Teacher. This role included supporting and coaching teachers in a range of schools and departments to improve Science teaching for all. In addition to this, Cara spent many of her teaching years training prospective teachers for Bath University mentoring them to achieve their qualified teacher status (QTS).
In her spare time Cara enjoys getting outside and keeping active. She enjoys the physical opposites of running and yoga and loves to spend time in her garden, but she will mostly be found playing or baking with her two young children.

Education

Cara graduated from the University of Exeter with a BSc in Biological Sciences. She followed on to complete a PGCE at the University of Bath.

Expertise

Cara is a qualified teacher with 15 years of classroom experience teaching science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) across Key Stage 3, GCSE, BTEC and A Level. She specialises in teaching Biology.
She has tutored both GCSE and A-Level students on a 1-1 basis across multiple exam boards.
Cara is also a qualified Advanced Skills Teacher where she worked within science departments across Wiltshire delivering pedagogical support and expertise to boost science teaching and exam results.
Cara specialised in genetics and immunity in the final years of her degree, completing a dissertation on the history of immunological sciences in the UK.
