About

  • Ann has been a part of the Save My Exams team since 2022 creating inspiring content in the Physics team. Ann was a Maths and Physics teacher around the world for 10 years before joining Save My Exams.

  • She has taught international students while living in Chongqing, China; Gonder, Ethiopia; Sydney, Australia; Kathmandu, Nepal; and Somerset, UK. Ann taught across the secondary years (Key stage 3, GCSE/IGCSE and A Levels) in both Maths and Physics. She implemented the A-level Physics programme at her school in China and created a link course between the British and American courses to make it easier for students to adapt when moving between the US and China.

  • Ann formed part of a team of teaching experts in Kathmandu to share innovation and best practices with local teachers. This also involved visits to village schools and advising on equipment and techniques in each location.

  • Having lived and worked in many less economically developed countries Ann has witnessed the amazing effect education and knowledge can have on improving a young person's prospects. She is passionate about inspiring students to be the best version of themselves. Whilst in Ethiopia, Ann also volunteered in schools teaching English language, culture and football.

  • Ann moved to China straight after completing her teacher training at University. She initially taught English as a second language before joining the science and maths teaching staff at an international school. She has since taught in other internal schools, British schools overseas and an independent school in the UK.

  • Ann loves travelling and spent six months in 2015 travelling completely overland from Cape Town in South Africa to Khartoum in Sudan covering 21, 000 miles and 13 countries using buses, trains, fishing vessels and minibuses.

  • Ann is an ultra trail-runner and having recently moved to Devon is enjoying tackling some of the steep Dartmoor and South Coast terrain.

Education

  • Ann has a BSc (Hons) in Physics and a PGCE in Science, specialising in Physics with Maths both from the University of Bath.

Expertise

  • Ann has taught Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at key stage 3 level, as well as Maths, Physics and Science at GCSE level and Maths and Physics at A Level.

  • Her main exam boards of expertise are Cambridge International Education and Pearson Edexcel International.

  • Ann’s forte is the overlap of forces and motion from Physics with the mechanics aspects of Maths. She thoroughly enjoys making calculations to model these phenomena. Previously she has designed Maths for Physics courses to assist students taking A Level Physics but not A Level Maths.

  • Her passion for remote learning developed during the Covid-19 pandemic when she taught online for two years. This required a lot of creativity and innovation using new technologies and ideas to inspire students in their learning of Maths and Physics.

  • Ann particularly enjoys designing hard practice questions, making them suitably challenging linking different concepts and challenging misconceptions that exist in Physics.

Top revision quote for students

"I always say to my GCSE Physics students that they should find a way to enjoy Physics revision and learning that works for them. If you enjoy it then it does not feel so difficult or like such hard work”
