How Do I Answer an Edexcel A Level Business 4-Mark Question?

  • 4-mark questions appear in Papers 1 and 2 only

Calculation questions

  • In these questions, you are asked to carry out a calculation using the given data

  • One mark is available for knowledge, with three marks available for application

Example

Acid test ratio calculations for 2014 and 2015 with differences shown. Each step is ticked for correctness. Marks awarded for Knowledge and Application.

Explain questions

  • In these questions, you are asked to explain a key term in relation to the context

  • It could be an implication, a benefit or drawback, or the way a business concept can be applied to the given situation

  • One mark is available for knowledge, two marks for application, and a further mark is available for analysis

Example
