Paper 3: Statistics and Mechanics

Instructions

  • Try to complete this mock exam paper in one sitting, under exam conditions. Use all the time available and check your answers to each question at the end before submitting.

  • Remember this is PRACTICE. Mistakes are fine and will help you improve in time for the real exam - just do your best.

  • You have 2 hours complete both Paper 31 (Statistics) and Paper 32 (Mechanics). Paper 31 consists of questions 1 to 7. Paper 32 consists of questions 8 to 13.

  • Candidates may use any calculator allowed by Pearson regulations.

  • You should show sufficient working to make your methods clear. Answers without working may not gain full credit.

  • Statistics: Values from statistical tables should be quoted in full. If a calculator is used instead of tables the value should be given to an equivalent degree of accuracy. Inexact answers should be given to three significant figures unless otherwise stated.

  • Mechanics: Unless otherwise indicated, whenever a value of g is required, take g = 9.8 m s−2 and give your answer to either 2 significant figures or 3 significant figures.
